If you follow me on YouTube, you know that I love to make tutorial videos and product reviews. Recording a video is a simple task but if you record with a bad quality camera or bad microphone, your videos will not drive sales or traffic to your offer.
In this post I’ll explain what I use to record my videos, software I use to record and edit and also some awesome tricks to make better videos without too much effort… so lets get started!
I strongly advise against using your own laptop’s webcam if you’re recording footage from yourself. I use Logitech C920 to record great looking videos with high frame rates. Presenting quality is a great way to tell someone how “Important” your video is and WHY they should watch it.
Tip: Make sure to record in an environment with good lighting on your face and top of your head
When it comes to choosing an on-desk microphone, the best one is one with noise cancellation feature. Noise cancellation removes sound of walking, people talking in distance or any outside noise that you don’t want to have on your video. For such microphone, I suggest Snowball USB Microphone. Snowball USB Microphone is one of the best on-desk microphones you can buy for $60.
Screen and Webcam Recording Software:
I’ve used many screen and webcam recording softwares to determine which one works better for creating and recording online tutorials and every time I ended up with Screencast-O-Matic. Screencast-O-Matic is hands down the best screen and webcam recording software you can find. You can record screen in any size, record webcam or record both. Something that I love is you can switch between them or have them together while recording so for example if you’re just recording yourself and you want to go to your screen to show something, you can switch by pressing a button!
Video Editing software:
After recording your awesome video, it’s time to edit it and make sure it looks good! As I mentioned above, Screencast-O-Matic can edit your videos to some degree but I use Sony Vegas Pro to edit my videos professionally if I need to. Sony Vegas Pro is one of the best video editing softwares out there. I understand it can get expensive but if you’re ok to spend $600 on a software and you make a lot of videos, You must have Sony Vegas Pro.
